Credit card payment

General information

Using  the on-line payment service of PayPal, we accept credit card  payment with Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. This service is currently available for customers in the following 38 countries:
Anguilla, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom, USA.

Note that we do NOT accept credit card payment by giving us your credit card number and other details by e-mail, letter, fax or telephone (one reason is that this is not secure for you). Your payment must go through the on-line process specified below. This system has now been chosen by approximately half of our customers and no problems have been reported. It is claimed to be safer than for example using checks.

When you pay with credit card you will not be charged any fees from PayPal other than a minor membership registration fee the first time you use PayPal (USD 1.95).  However, for credit card payment we add a USD 10 surcharge to the nominal price of the book (which is USD 220) to compensate for the higher costs for the PayPal service on our side.

Your payment to us is in US dollars, but when charging your credit card it may be automatically converted to your desired currency, from US dollars to corresponding amounts in Canadian Dollars, Euros, Pounds Sterling, or Yen, if you wish so.

About PayPal

PayPal enables any business or consumer with email to send and receive Internet payments securely, conveniently and cost-effectively. Its account-based network builds on the existing financial infrastructure of bank accounts and credit cards to create a global payment system. The service, owned by the eBay company, is available to users in 38 countries including the United States. PayPal seeks to become the global standard for online payments, having over 30 million registered users.

Information about PayPal can be found here.

Security when using PayPal

The security of your information, transactions, and money is the top priority at PayPal. PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to ours using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol  (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available).

Once your information reaches PayPal, it resides on a server that is heavily guarded both physically and electronically. Our servers sit  behind an electronic firewall and are not directly connected to the Internet, so  your private information is available only to authorized computers.

Procedure (regular order)

1.   Click the PayPal button above. You will then be transferred to PayPal’s secure server.

2.   If you have never before used the services of PayPal you are first asked to log-in as a new PayPal member and create a profile for you and your transaction (note the button “click here” just above the “PayPal login” heading). You will then have to specify a password, write your credit card number, your e-mail address, credit card billing address, etc. This process; i.e. to become a PayPal member, costs  USD 1.95 which will be charged to your credit card (only the first  time). After this log-in, if you are a new member and for your own security, you may also be asked to confirm your data by a separate e-mail.

3.   After or before login with this new account (or your old account if you already have one) you shall fill in the number of books that you want to purchase. Note  that the price for each book will be USD 220 plus a USD 10 surcharge (see above), in total USD 230 per book. In this option, the price per book is always USD 230, so if you have a special discount, you must click on the PayPal symbol at the bottom of the page instead (“Special orders”). The latter allows you to fill in a discounted price.

4.   After your login, you will see a field called “Shipping address”. By default this is identical to your credit card billing address. If your shipping address is different from your credit card billing address, you need to provide  your shipping address separately. However, do not enter your shipping address  under “add address” here (because this must be an address similar to your credit  card billing address); instead you need to provide your shipping address in the NEXT field (see the next point).

5.   Next, there is a special field called “Company name & messages to us”. In this field, please enter for example:
-  The VAT number of your company or organisation (this is mandatory if you are located in an EU country, in other countries you can disregard this)
-  If your shipping address is different from the address connected with your credit card, write your shipping address here.
-   If you do not provide your full shipping address here, and if your company’s or organization’s name did not appear in the credit card billing address field (see above) we ask you to write the name of your company or organization here. Otherwise, we may not be able to write your full address when we ship the book to you.
It often happens that we have to guess the name of the ordering company or organization from the e-mail address.
-   In this field also enter your ordering number (or similar), if you have such a one. This is optional and only to make sure that your order is not mixed with some other order from your organisation
-   Enter any other message to INFORMEX that you may have.

6.   If you fill in the information above when paying with PayPal, you do NOT have to send us the Ordering Form that you can download from another page on this web site.

7.   After completing your purchase you will be taken back to the INFORMEX web site. Within a minute you shall receive a confirmation e-mail from PayPal that your payment was OK (INFORMEX will receive a similar message). You will also immediately receive an e-mail from PayPal asking you to confirm your address. Some sellers only accept such confirmed addresses. In our case you may disregard this e-mail asking for confirmation (unless you really want to confirm your address).

Procedure (student or non-profit organization discount)

If you qualify for this discount (please check our page “How to order” and ask us by contacting us first) you pay only USD 170. Do as instructed above, but click on the PayPal symbol below this paragraph instead:

Procedure for Special orders (applicable only by special agreement)

If you want to purchase 2 books or more, you may get a discount. Contact INFORMEX in such a case. When an agreement of a discounted price has been reached you may use the button below to make your order. In this case the default price is USD 10 and to obtain the agreed price you must specify the “quantity” yourself. The “quantity” in this case is just a multiple needed to obtain the agreed total price. Read also the points above, most of them apply also to this Special Order case. This option may also be used for payments to INFORMEX for special services such as courier delivery of the book.
